While BlackBerry’s handheld devices have all but disappeared from corner offices, cubicles and conference rooms in the U.S., the company is far from giving up its hold on the tech-sector. Instead of throwing in the towel when the iPhone became the professional’s smartphone of choice, Blackberry pivoted and is now turning its sites on software development specifically geared towards IoT tech.
Focus shifting from device development to software development
In the move away from device development, BlackBerry has outsourced their handset development segment to PT Tiphone. Tiphone is an affiliate of the nation’s largest mobile carrier, Telkomsel, and accounts for nearly 50% of the Indonesian mobile market.
