IIoT adoption is accelerating in response to COVID-19

Research from satellite giant Inmarsat has found a rapid acceleration in IIoT deployments in response to COVID-19.

Over three-quarters (77%) of the surveyed organisations have now deployed at least one IoT project. 41 percent of those businesses did so in the twelve-month period from the second quarter of 2020, a period that will enter the history books as when COVID-19 gripped the world.

Inmarsat launches the first global UAV connectivity solution

Satellite giant Inmarsat has launched Velaris, the first global connectivity solution for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

Velaris is powered by Inmarsat’s ELERA satellite network and enables commercial UAVs to fly beyond visual sight. The solution also provides UAV operators with access to key applications like real-time air traffic monitoring to ensure the safety of all commercial airspace users.

Inmarsat launches programme to boost availability of satellite IoT solutions

Inmarsat has launched its Application and Solution Provider (ASP) programme with the intention of boosting adoption for IoT purposes.

ASP creates an ecosystem for software, hardware, and solution providers that enables access to Inmarsat’s global satellite connectivity and helps companies to expand into new sectors and geographies.
